We recognize that when serving a range of devices and operating systems, updates to the application may produce new bugs that cause the application to crash.
While crash reports are automatically sent to our developers when this happens, there is a way to manually share a more detailed report directly with our development team so that we can improve the app experience.
If your iPhone app crashed and you would like to share your report directly, please use these instructions for accessing and sharing your crash report.
iOS Instructions (for iOS 13 or later)
- Navigate to your device Settings > Privacy > Analytics(&Improvements) > Analytics Data.
- Use search or scroll through this list any events labeled with Density.Mobile.iOS in the list (these events have a date attached to them). The list is alphabetical.
- Tap one of these events.
- Tap the share icon at the top right.
- Email it to prodensity@exchange.johnshopkins.edu with “Crash Report” in the subject line.
If your Android app crashed and you would like to share your report directly, please use these instructions for accessing and sharing your crash report.
Android Instructions (for Android 8.1 or later)
- Navigate to the Settings app and select About phone or About tablet.
- In the “About” section, scroll down to the Build number (the latest version of the app, e.g. 1.3.1) – it’s typically the last one – and tap it 10 times, until you see a message that says “You are now a developer!” Developer Options are now enabled.
- Tap the back button to leave the page. The new Developer Options item will now be shown directly under or above “About phone”.
- Repeat the steps in the Prodensity app that caused Prodensity to crash.
- After reproducing the issue, go into the main Settings app and select Developer Options.
- Tap Take bug report (you may need to toggle the “On” switch at the top first). After a few minutes you will receive a prompt to email the bug report.
- Email it to prodensity@exchange.johnshopkins.edu with “Crash Report” in the subject line.
Note: If the Take bug report option is disabled, please try enabling the USB Debugging option in Developer Options and try again.
