FAQ: Density Tracking

You will see a “Check In Here” sign at the building’s entrance if density tracking is required.

Currently most laboratory and some office/classroom spaces use the density tracking system on the East Baltimore and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center campuses. The Homewood campus has added Common Spaces which also use the density tracking system. Density tracking may expand as more individuals return to campuses.

The occupancy level in laboratory settings is currently based on 200-400 square feet per individual. Occupancy levels are subject to change based on return to research guidelines.

Security personnel and administrators can see the spaces where you are checked in. Your fellow team members who have access to the same space as you can also see who is checked in or out.

You can tap to view team members, then contact them to request that someone checks out. You can also tap the “call for assistance” button to contact your PI/space lead and request help. If you are at a checkpoint with a security desk, they may be able to verify whether your space is full.
